My Sea

This sculpture originates from my personal longing to reconstruct an ocean of my own. Drawing inspiration from the sensory experience of the sea, I combined several symbolic elements—fans, shells, and the nose—to create an installation that embodies both the physical and emotional dimensions of the marine world.

The fan, representing the sea breeze, evokes the rhythm of air and movement. The shells recall the ocean’s memory and texture, while the inclusion of the nose gestures toward the act of breathing—suggesting that to truly experience the sea, one must not only see it but also sense it through the body.

The wooden structure at the base resembles driftwood assembled into the shape of a fragile vessel, an allusion to the remnants carried by the tide—objects that drift between the natural and the discarded. Above it, layers of transparent fabric mimic the undulating motion of waves. As the fans beneath generate airflow, the fabric ripples and catches the light, transforming into a glistening surface that shimmers like sunlight reflected on the sea.
